General Store (1997) is Owen Temple's debut — ten songs of Texas country and folk about small towns, working people, and the stretches of highway between. Produced by Lloyd Maines (Dixie Chicks, Joe Ely, Robert Earl Keen) at Cedar Creek Studios in Austin.
Pat Green and Cory Morrow trade verses on Chuck Pyle's “Jaded Lover”; the rest is Temple's own writing, including “When I Hit San Antone,” “Tennessee Highway,” “Dry Creek,” and “The Wanna Wanna Bar” (later recorded by Roger Creager). The cover was photographed at the Fischer Store in Fischer, Texas — a Hill Country mercantile standing since 1902.
